Visit the biggest reclining Buddha

Ranked as the biggest Buddha statue in the world, this reclining Buddha at the Win Sein Monastery is another feature to exhibit Myanmar’s beautiful Art, Culture and religion. Once you arrive in front of Win Sein Taw Ya you will be astonished by its characterized size and other nice looking features available including Stupas, shrines, statues and monastic buildings. This feature measures 30 meters by height and 180 meters in length, it’s just about 20 kilometers away from town and usually a day trip is worth a visit. Entrance to this place is free of charge and if it’s your wish you can donate towards the construction of this exceptional icon in Mawlamyine since there is still some work in progress.

Visit Mon Cultural Museum

Get to know about culture in Mawlamyine with a visit to Mon Cultural Museum which exhibits more about the Mon people. Spending your day in this historical site, you will exposed to a wide collection of figurines, coins, musical instruments, bronze ware, and silverware of the Mon people. It usually costs $2 USD per person to enter this museum.

A day trip to Hpa An

This is another emerging tourist destination in Myanmar. Spending a day with in exposes you to its mixture of exceptional attractions including tall limestone mountains, beautiful caves and magnificent temples. It does not take you more than two hours by bus from Mawlamyine and reaching there, renting a tuk tuk and explore all what it offers is a best option.

When it comes to local cuisine Mawlamyine is popularly known for its Thingyan Wax Rice, go local with a taste on this exciting dish. Usually before eating you will pour wax smoked water over your rice and then add ice to bring out a fantastic mixture worth tasting. Death Railway Museum

Relax at Setse Beach

Relax and unwind with a perfect day trip to Setse beach, it’s just located 80 kilometers south of Mawlamyine. You can either go there by private or public means of transport.
The beach is more famous for local visitors than foreigners. It does not has wide range of world class resorts but it could be a good choice if you want to have a relaxing time.
