Laos has many beautiful waterfall scattering from north to south, adding some stunning value to your travel to this country. Many of these falls are well known on Laos tourism radar, other are best for off beaten journey.

 Khone Phapheng Falls

Just 13 km from the Cambodian border, east of Don Khon on the Mekong River is the fascinating waterfall of Khone Phapheng. The view of unrestrained aggression of gallons of water crashing over the rocks is simply enchanting. With several viewpoints around, one can catch some rainbows in the early-morning mist. The falls are home to the plabuck, an endangered species of catfish available in this area. Characterised by thousands of islands and numerous waterways, the area gets its name Si Phan Don or 'The 4,000 islands'.
Local tour guide also call this  as "Niagra falls of the East"

Nam Kat Waterfall

Located 15 km upstream from Ban, and 20 km southeast of Oudomxay in northern Laos, the amazing Nam Kat waterfall is surrounded by a kingdom of boulders, large and small creating a series of beautiful smaller waterfalls along the stream.
Visitors can  enjoy a jungle trail to Nam Kat waterfall, and witness a series of cascades for about 20 m height in total, the final drop being a 10 m tumble to a large pool below. The green surroundings of Nyang oil tree and a host of other trees, makes it a great picnic spot.

Nam Tok Katamtok

These 328 ft tall, fascinating waterfalls are in Champasak Province 44 km from Paksong and can be easily accessed by car or motorbike followed by a short hike.
These falls are fed by Huay Katam River in the Bolevan Plateau, which is known for its highland ecosystem and plentiful coffee plantations.
To reach the fall, it is suggested to book a private tour with local tour operator or rent a motorbike !

Tad Fane

This waterfall in Don Hua Sao National Protected area in Champasak Province is a must see in southern Laos. At nearly 400 ft tall, the fall is majestic, and comprises of two watercourses that come together before flowing from the crest to the pool below. For those who’d rather not burn any calories or work up a sweat, it’s possible to view the fall from a moderately distant viewing area on the other side of the gorge.

Tad Lo

Named after the village of the same name in the vicinity, this waterfall is about 85 km from Pakse in Laos’ Bolaven Plateau region. The fall comprises of 3 distinct tiers – Tad Hang, Tad Lo and Tad Suong. The cataracts are particularly forceful and dangerous during the monsoon months, and the area is known for its elephant tours, which will certainly be a memorable adventure.

Located in Bachieng District 33 km north of Pakse, this waterfall makes a horseshoe shape as the stream plunges into the basin below. At about 20 ft height, the fall is on the Houai Champi River and flows all the year round, irrespective of dry or wet season. Unique, treehouse like bungalows are available for rent near the falls which the tourists can avail for an amazing experience.

Tad Tayicsua

For those who love to take a motorbike ride through the Bolevan Plateau and enjoy the nature’s beauty, to them Tad Tayicsua could be a heaven on earth. Due to its remoteness and the difficulty of getting there, it’s off the radar of most tourists, but if any adventurous soul can put in the effort, he would definitely be rewarded with the beauty of this magnificent fall.
The serene surroundings are captivating and a trek down to the base of the falls can be fascinating while one feels the mist in the air.

Li Phi Waterfalls

Located on the Mekong River, this fall’s swift water and slippery rocks can be treacherous. Literally meaning ‘Spirit Trap’; it is believed by the locals that these raging rapids trap the bad spirits of dead people and animals. Located in the 4,000 islands area of Laos’ southern border with Cambodia, Li Phi draws a lot of tourists.
