Indein has a picturesque setting with a mountain backdrop facing the narrow canal and filled by semi-water gardens. The best way to reach Indein is by boat while many trekkers descend from Kalaw on some breathtaking path. 

Indein Market

The market does not actually place in the village, it actually rotates from Indein to other villages and defined as " 5 days market" . You will meet the friendly Pa-O, Padaung and other hill tribes in this morning market selling their farm produce and lake catches including fishes and shrimp.
Lively food stalls offers great taste of Shan food while you can also buy some souvenirs locally made as well.

Shwe Inn Dein pagodas

The hill top Shwe Inn Thein pagoda consists of many stupas in different sizes, shapes and different preservation conditions. 
The pagoda is believed to be built under the era of Ashoka Emperor in the 3rd BC century when he sent monks to spread Buddhism. Two Kings of the Bagan empire after centuries decided to build pagoda on the top of this sacred hill, containing hundred of small pagodas enshrined Buddha statues. Archeaological work proved that many inscription has dates back to 14th century.
The pagoda entrance fee is 300kyat and it opens from 8.00pm till 6.00pm
