The Kayah State is situated between the Inle Lake and the Thai Border. The convenience in traveling into this place is that one can easily make integrated round trips through this place. The common motive of tourists is to visit the serene capital, Loikaw. Visitors can travel into Loikaw airways through Yangon as well as in an elegant boat cruise to the lake followed by a brief ride on the bus to Loikaw.

Things to do in Kayah

•    Discover the mysterious Kyet Cave; located 15 km the east of Loikaw along the road to Shadaw. The entrance of the cave is a wooden hut which has been reported to be inhabited by an old monk who serves visitors with tea and biscuits.
•    Explore the Taung Kwe Pagoda and its appealing monuments.
•    Take delight in the local food – the Kayah Sausage is a popular attraction (also known as Wet Au Chaung) and the customary rice wine (Kayah Kaung Ye).
•    Sightsee the inspiring Buddha lounging in Loikaw.
•    Get in the various tribal areas of Kayah and indulge in learning the beauty of different languages and customs of the native.
•    Visit the grimy Kayah State Cultural Museum which gives an insight into the details of ancient tribes of Kayah State.

Traveling In

The Kayah state is the least visited place since it is literally isolated from the main areas. It takes at least 16 hours to reach Kayah from any station. The only convenient way to travel into the state is by boat thought the Inle Lake.
