Myanmar History
Myanmar which was earlier known as Burma covers area of 677,000 square kilometer and is considered the “Golden Land’’. The capital of Myanmar is Naypyidaw and more than 100 ethnic groups are living in Myanmar. It shares its boarders with china, India, Bangladesh, Thailand, Yangon and Laos.
Myanmar has a very rich historical background and is attracted by tourist because of the beautiful historical buildings (temples and pagodas) that are still alive in Myanmar

300B.C and Mons:
The first people who began the history of Myanmar were Mons. The history started in 300 B.C when Mons migrated to Myanmar and at that time the first kingdom was established around the port of Thaton that was suvarnabhumi.
Pyu and 7th century:
The puy civilization was considered the most peaceful people who controlled 18 kingdoms. During 7th century when Myanmar was used as a trade route from china to India pyu migrated to Myanmar and began to explore it. City kingdom was formed at Mongamo, Binnaka, Sri ksetra and Halingyi
The Bagan kingdom:
Powerful kingdom centered on the city of pagan was formed in 849, the kingdom was isolated until reign of Anawrahta(1044-77) who defeated the Mon city of Thaton in 1057 and unified all of Myanmar.in 1289 the dynastywas brought to an end as the Bedan kingdom was diminished and Sangal took over it.
Inwa and Bagan:
In 1364 after the collapse of Bagan authority Myanmar was again divided and at the city of Inwa Burmans reestablished them. This was the time when Burmese culture and literature was revived again. At Bago the Mons reestablished their kingdom.
The Taungoo Dynasty:
During this time drastic change was seen in the geopolitical situation in the Southeast Asia. Potugese took over Malacca and in the North and a new kingdom Ayutthaya was established. At this time Myanmar was once again used as a trading route. Due to the commercial value of the Bango Tabishwehti moved the Capital here. Later Bayinnaung took over the throne and conquered several states like Manipur and Ayutthaya in 1613 the Portuguese failed to take over Myanmar and Myanmar was reunite by the Anaukpetewn(Grandson of Bayinnaung. The southern part was ignored and main focus was to establish the principles of the old Bagan kingdom.
The Konbaung Dynasty:
In 1753 the Bango force was drove out of Myanmar by Alaungpaya and he took over Bango and Manipur southern Myanmar in 1759. Rangoon became the capital. In 1966 Hsinbyushin returned to Ayutthaya when his father (Alaungpaya) was killed. Between (1766-1769) he repulsed four Chinese invasions. After that Bodawapaya added Arakan and tenasserim to kingdom and lost Ayutthaya.
Maha Bandula conquered Assam during the reign of king Bagyidaw .
War with British:
First Anglo-Burmese war (1824-26) started when British and Siam unite to conquer Myanmar and possessed its rich resources that give away to second and third Anglo-Burmese war. During this time all the benefit went to British officers and Burmese people got little benefit. In 1938 during a protest British police killed the students of Yangoon University.
At the end Burma got independence from Britain in 1948 when Burmese nationalists allied themselves with Japan.
