What is Thanaka

Thanaka is cultivated in the upper part, central of Burma. Literrally,it was mentioned in a peom existed from 14th century in Mon state by the King Razadarits. 
The paste has yellowish color and it is only harvested if the tree is more than 35 years old. 

Benefit for Skin

A study from University of London stated Thanaka keeps high concentration of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties which rejuvenate the skin. It reduces the moisture loosing process on skin while protect it from UV rays. 
For these benefits, thanaka is used for skin foundations, facial masks, thanaka creams, body lotions, soaps and perfumes
 

Producing and Shop

The cream is made by grinding the wood, roots or the bark of thanaka tree mingling with a small quantity of water on a circular ston lab. Demonstration of the whole process now can be seen at many local cosmetic shops.
