Putao travel time starts from October to April according to the flight schedule as flying is the only way to access the region so far. 

Special Notice about the Price
Trekking in Putao is not cheap for many reasons : you will have to pay return flights, hotels and services are expensive since the area is remote and all equippments are imported from other countries. 

Weather
Putao tourist season is between November and May, mostly clear skies, warm during the day and cool mornings and evenings. Temperature steadily decreases between late December and early February. Average temperature would be between low 4/10 and high 22/30 degree Celsius but could drop steadily up to freezing up in the mountains. 

What to pack
For baggage, please keep your personal gear to a minimum for a wilderness expedition. Day backpack should be light and include medication, extra clothes, water and camera. Clothing should be lightweight, quick dry and insulation provided. For those who plan to explore the high mountain, thick sweater, warm jackets are essential. 
Please note that the temperature may fall quickly during the evening and for cold period, it may be -5 or colder.
Hiking boots, waterproof pants, glovers and gaiters are highly recommended.
Trekking sticks and other gears should be brought or arranged through travel agencies. 

Communication
Mobile network is limited though it exists in Putao. Only luxury hotel offers internet, otherwise please expect the least communication with other countries.

Guided Tour or Not
Visiting Putao, you do need a tour guide unless you wander around the town and nearby villages. A crew of tour guide and porters are needed for all trekking trips in Putao. They are locally based and speak English only. 

Homestay / Camping
Homestay is a great way to see the local life in the most authentic way.  Please expect a basic condition with bed, mattress, blanket and normal toilet.

Mt. Phonyin Razi Expedition locates on the elevation of 14050  is one of the most beautiful summits to scale in the region. The unique pattern of Eastern Edged of Himalaya is extraordinary unique floristic region which can represent the region around the central Asiatic highland and continuous Eastern Edged of Himalaya. Generally covered with snow between November and May is about 80 kilometer North - East of Putao.
